About

I’m Cassidy Rose; I’m 24, and this blog is an outlet for me to wrestle with the beautiful, unanswerable questions of life. I live in intentional community and love to read, hike, swim in large bodies of water, and play the mandolin.

I started this blog when I was 16. I named it Rose in Winter, inspired by the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe and how when she appeared to Juan Diego, she left him fresh roses in the middle of winter as a promise of love.

In Story of a Soul, St. Therese of Lisieux, my patron saint, writes: “Do you remember my telling you, dear Mother, how fond I am of snow? … Why had I such a fancy for snow? Perhaps it was because, being a little winter flower, my eyes first saw the earth clad in its beautiful white mantle.”

My middle name is Rose, and I was born in December. I think of myself, too, as a little winter flower finding her way. So that is the spirit of this blog, this space which means so much to me.

Thank you so much for spending your time with me. ❤
